Several weeks ago, Malawi experienced heavy rains for five days, resulting in massive flooding in the Southern region. The main rivers flooded the plains in the Southern region, displacing nearly 250,000 people, causing many deaths, and destroying much of the crops for this year’s harvest. As these areas have begun the process of recovering, I was able to travel to Bangula to talk with a community there. The whole community experienced about two weeks of standing water after the floods, with the local church submerged for that period.
In the photo, one of the congregants shows how high the water got in the church. These communities have experienced a major natural disaster, and we are attempting to partner with as many communities as we can in the relief efforts. Continue to pray for us and for Malawians as we try to respond to this crisis in the best way possible.
