As most of you know, one of the sustainable projects that Namikango has invested in is coffee farming. This is a slow investment, which started several years ago planting coffee plants and slowing watering them and caring for them as they grow. Last year, we had our first harvest of beans, which was minimal, as many of the plants were not mature enough to yield any kind of decent harvest.
However, this year, our plants have matured enough so that we are harvesting a good crop of coffee beans. As you can see from the photo, coffee beans start green and as they ripen they get bright red. Once they have achieved this impressive color, they are ready to be picked and processed in our new coffee processing facility. We are so excited to begin harvesting our coffee and selling it to local buyers, as this project will begin generating income to offset the mission’s many different ministries and programs!
