Can you spot the visitor I found in my yard? When I first moved to Malawi, I realized quickly that there is a lot more wildlife here, and some of the animals, snakes, and bugs, were rather dangerous. Knowing next to nothing about the wildlife of Malawi, I began researching and taking part in an online discussion group about snake identification. The thought was that, even though I’m not a big fan of snakes, it is better to know which ones are dangerous, which ones are harmless, and which ones you should keep around. This has actually been a very practical hobby, since most people misidentify snakes here, and for good reason. Therefore, when I found this guy in my garden, I knew he was a harmless bush snake, out catching lizards and keeping the big bugs off my property!
