As I talked about a few weeks ago, this time of year is very hot and very dry as we wait for the rains to come. This means that the country is prone to fires, which often get out of control quickly with the winds. At the end of October a fire, started off campus, pushed through our fence and burned through a good portion of our forest. Thankfully, the fire moved quickly and did not damage any people, structures, or the forest itself. The trees managed to get by relatively free from damage, as the fire burned most of the forest floor. We are grateful that the fire did not do any lasting damage, and that everyone remained safe. The fires are another reminder that the country is very ready for the rainy season and cooler weather.
